Our Moonshots story started years ago with my mom, Kathy, in our kitchen, creating healthy food that actually tasted great for a family of picky eaters. After a career in the NFL, my brother John teamed up with Mom to share her juice creations with our hometown of Guilford, CT. Having already lived his own moonshot, making it to the NFL and back, John believed deeply in the healing, energizing power of clean, nourishing food. And as a new business owner, he knew it would resonate, because Mom has always had a gift: making anything (even healthy food) taste delicious.
As the business grew, it became a true family effort. My dad, Dave, jumped in with decades of experience in the trades, our family business for more than forty years. And I (Keeley), daughter and sister, joined in and helped bring our early vision to life, including investing in the vintage Moonshots juice truck that helped us introduce something new to the shoreline.
Over time, each of us fell into a natural role based on our strengths. Mom led the kitchen and created the recipes. John was out front sharing the product with customers and handling packaging. Dad kept everything running behind the scenes and handled the mechanical and trade-related challenges that inevitably came up. And when I wasn’t running my own photography business, I used those skills to capture vibrant images of our juices and build our social media and marketing.
Owning a family business is never easy, but it has changed all of us for the better. We grew up in this community, and through Moonshots, we’ve been lucky to meet incredible people and experience a healthier, more vibrant side of the shoreline than we ever imagined.
We hope to see you in our kitchen in Madison and hear about your moonshot journey. You’re invited to be part of ours, too, follow along on Instagram and Facebook at drinkmoonshots.
